well, Egan made his debut early in the morning of June 18. It was a long day/night. On Wednesday, June 17, Quinn decided he wanted to get up around 5:30am, we got up and headed to work. At 2pm, my water broke at work. I called Pat to let him know and my boss got me a wheel chair and wheeled me over to the hospital. I was admitted around 2:15pm or so. My
dr. came to check on me at 2:40pm. I was 3cm dilated. She said that she expected to deliver around 9-10pm and that she would be heading home but would come back for the delivery--depending on the time. I got my epidural and
pitocin and settled in for a long night. Pat and I watched a movie, sports center, etc. At 6pm, they came in to check me...still only 3cm. dilated. At 10:40pm, they came in to check me...4cm, 80% effaced, things were progressing smoothly. Around 12:45am, they came in to check me, 10cm, and 100% effaced. Time to start pushing. I started pushing around 1:15pm. Egan was transverse so there were some issues. They called in another doctor and she assisted in the delivery. 2
drs, a suction, pat holding one leg and a nurse holding the other, Egan finally made his appearance at 2:25am. He was almost a pound heavier than Quinn and 3/4" longer that Quinn. Here are some pictures from his birth and our first few days...
