We decided to split the trip up into 2 days of driving, with a stop over in Asheville, NC. We left Wednesday late morning, had lunch and got on the road at nap time. We made it to Asheville around 3:30pm. We enjoyed some swimming and then had a free dinner at the hotel. We hit the hay that night and got up early on Thursday. We ate breakfast at the hotel, enjoyed quick dip in the pool, and got on the road around 10:30am. The boys napped in the car. Egan proved that 4 hours or so is his max and he wants out of his car seat. We made a lunch pit-stop at McD's and let the boys run around and play before we loaded back up for the last 90 minute drive to Lexington. We got to Lexington around 3:30pm and drove around our "old town" and then stopped at the bookstore for some new UK attire before heading to the Brechthings. We spent Thursday night with them and their 3 triplet boys--Paxton, Ryland, and Leighton. Our boys had a blast playing with them.

enjoying some adult conversations with Emily and Phil after all 5 boys went to bed. We also got to much on Irish nachos from Shamrocks after Phil and Pat made a late night stop to get them. They were as good as I remember!
Quinn and Ryland having a jam session! Friday we spent the morning at UK visiting Pat's old boss and lab and then we enjoyed lunch at Pazzo's--YUM! We headed back to the Brechtings so the boys could nap. After nap and a little play time, we headed to the Mundells to crash at their place for 2 nights. We enjoyed seeing Rich and Nicki and their kids--Meghan and Pierce. The kids enjoyed spending a lot of time outside in the warm weather. Pat got to dust off his volleyball shoes and played volleyball with Rich on friday night while Nicki and I manned the kids and got them to bed. Saturday we woke up and went to Kenneland to see the horses warm up for the races that were happening later that day. Love Kenneland and the boys loved seeing the horses up close and personal.
After Kenneland, we headed back to the Mundells for lunch. Later that afternoon, the Brechtings and Scott and his son joined us for some fun and food at the Mundells. 8 kids all running around--they had a blast! Nicki made delicious chicken and dumplings (a request was made by Pat). We also got to see Pat's brother Nicholas and his girlfriend Erin. They stopped out at Rich and Nicki's so that was great to see them as well.

Sunday we woke up and had yummy french toast and got on the road. All 4 of us were sick with head colds/sinus issues/croup related colds, etc. We drove half way to Asheville again and then got up early Monday and made the final trek back to Charleston. We had a blast on our trip and loved spending time with friends and seeing old places but we were also excited to be back home and sleeping in our own beds!
